Submission Rules:
- Submissions may include up to 12 songs OR one album of any length.
- Submissions must be one of the following formats:
- Submissions must be of specific dimensions:
- Submissions may not be AI generated or include any AI generated music or visuals.
- Submissions must include all content which you wish to be seen (as in, we will not add a title, signature, etc. or any other information or imagery on your behalf. We will add a page number in the bottom right hand corner.)
Submission Suggestions:
- Aesthetic — Put your spin on the visual component of your submission! Your page may be typed, hand-written, collaged, digitally composited, whatever suits you. Just do it yourself. AI artwork or other AI visual components will cause your submission to be rejected.
- Format — We recommend a title and a list of tracks for all submissions. You might also include visuals that emphasize the theme of the issue or of your playlist, and you are welcome to annotate the playlist if you like. Keep in mind that legibility is accessibility.
- Title — Tell us what your playlist is about! Submissions will not be rejected due to lack of title, but this is your chance to demonstrate your creative spirit, or your straightforward, no-nonsense spirit, or your overdeveloped sense of irony, or whatever it is you’ve got going on.
- Attribution — While we are happy to accept anonymous submissions, we invite you to use a sign-off or pseudonym, sobriquet, nickname, moniker, etc. so that readers of the zine can recognize your genius and look forward to your future submissions! (Maybe someday we’ll have a music matchmaking service. Not everyone agrees this is a good idea, but doesn’t it sound cute as hell?)
- Content — Your tracklist can be numbered, alphabetized, randomized, whatever floats your boat. Each month’s theme is a suggestion, not a demand, but we do regularly have “freestyle” issues where there is no theme, so if you have an extremely specific playlist in mind, maybe wait until then. As far as the length of your tracklist, you may include up to twelve songs or one album, but you needn’t use every slot. Maybe this playlist really only needs to be eight songs long. Maybe there is one song that you really want to give the spotlight and let it stand alone.
How to Submit:
Your playlist can be submitted either as a .png, .jpg, or .pdf, via email (offbeatoddio@protonmail.com) or instagram (@offbeatoddio.) Friends of the zine may deliver submissions in person; contact us to make arrangements. Offbeat Oddio is not opposed to getting a P.O. Box in the future, budget permitting, so let us know if that is a wish you’d like for us to make come true!
